Mayla means “the one who loves water”. The name defines exactly what brought the team together.
Christopher and Olivier met while optimising the construction processes of the first far-offshore wind farm in the North Sea. Hundreds of kilometres off the German coasts, the two bonded while sharing old sailing stories.
Ten years later, Christopher proposed an initial concept and both decided to make their dream come true. The aim was to build a boat like no other, amazingly fast, environmentally friendly, and perfectly accommodating for the best cocktail parties in the bay.
The Mayla team surrounded themselves with the best experts available and together they finalised the detailed engineering of a yacht exceeding all expectations: Mayla GT.
MAYLA GmbH has its headquarters in Hamburg, Germany, home of a century-old, high-quality yacht-building tradition. The boat structure is sourced from a high-tech carbon laminate specialist in Dubai, UAE, the main components are engineered and manufactured under the highest quality standards in Germany and the United States of America.
Christopher
Co-founder, MD, spiritual father of Mayla GT
Christopher grew up on boats and his outstanding sailing skills led him to participate in two Olympic campaigns. Equally fond of exceptional powerboats, he developed an acute sense of how a performance motorboat should be set up and behave on the water. Mayla GT is Christopher’s own spiritual child and materialises his quest for performance.
Prior to founding Mayla, Christopher acted as a consultant in operational excellence and as the CEO of a private equity fund-managed company. He is currently Managing Director and co-owner of SolvingPartners GmbH, an operational excellence and new business consulting boutique, and Mayla’s mother company.
Christopher holds an engineering degree from the DHBV Friedrichshafen in Germany. Based in Hamburg, he enjoys spending his free time on the water with his wife, his two young children and friends.
Olivier
Co-founder, MD, spiritual uncle of Mayla GT
Olivier started sailing at a very young age in the south of Brittany and fell profoundly in love with the ocean. His many years experiencing the unforgiving waters of the Bay of Biscay taught him a deep respect for the elements. To him, sea-worthiness and offshore capabilities are paramount in designing a yacht, even for recreational use.
Before embarking on the Mayla adventure, Olivier worked for two decades as a management and operational excellence consultant, mainly in the fields of renewable energy and automotive. He is a co-founder and current Managing Director of SolvingPartners GmbH.
Olivier has an MSc in Management from INSEEC in Paris and an MBA from McGill University in Montreal. He is now based in Berlin. When not at work, you will most likely find Olivier spending quality time with family and friends, sailing, or riding a motorcycle.
